RAUL FERNANDEZ

Oddly enough, prior to 2004, I never thought about diving. A co worker invited me to be part of group that was getting certified. I had nothing else to do and joined in with the group. It was unknown to me (at the time), but there was a side bet on who would drop out first. The money was on me! Over 1,000 dives and counting for me. Zero for everyone else.

I was hooked on day one and I’m still hooked. I started taking pictures with a simple point and shoot camera. The pictures came out terrible, but it was the best way I could explain the underwater world to the non-diver. After a few years, I moved into a Nikon D80 with a Ikelite housing. I’m currently using a Nikon D7200 with a Ikelite housing. I have a long way to go with my pictures, but I’m going to enjoy the ride.

I enjoy taking dive trips to Saba, Dominica, St Vincent, Roatan and Bonaire. I’m also lucky to be able to dive in south Florida throughout the year.
