Nigel Motyer first took up underwater photography as a teenager in 1987. Armed with a camera and an unhealthy tolerance for cold water, he spent his early years trying to get a decent image on a Nikon’s V with an SB101 strobe – which he flooded on its first dive. Progress was slow in the film, pre-digital days but over the years his love for underwater photography developed.
Nigel’s images have been widely published in international wildlife and dive magazines, including National Geographic. He recently published his first book, a collection of his Irish underwater photography, Beneath Irish Seas (Merrion Press), which is a love letter to his 40 years of diving Ireland’s rich and often overlooked underwater world. When he’s not diving, he’s planning the next adventure.
