MONTHLY MEETINGS

You are here:

We invite you to join our thriving community of underwater image makers at our monthly meetings. SFUPS meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month and alternate between in-person and virtual formats, giving our members the chance to connect wherever they are in the world. Our in-person meetings are enthusiastic gatherings where our local members share their experiences and knowledge, learn about new gear, and make new friends with the same interests. Each month we invite a guest speaker to give a presentation on a particular aspect of underwater photography or videography.

As one of the largest underwater photography societies in the Americas, our meetings attract such legendary figures as Dr. Alex Mustard and Amos Nachoum, as well as world-renowned photographers such as Byron Conroy, Yury Ivanov, and Simon Lorenz. Presentations may focus on specific photo or video techniques, the highlights and challenges of particular dive locations, practical tips for diving as a photographer, post-processing and more. We aim to include material that will help both beginners and those with more experience to advance their skills. The presentations are available on our website in our video archive for our members to access at any time.

Another highlight of our meetings is the announcement of the results of our popular monthly photo and video contests. With our prizes this year including luxury dive trips to the Red Sea and Indonesia, a liveaboard in the Bahamas, and local dives with our sponsor, Kyalami, it is worth your while to try your luck and enter!

There is also the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes in our raffle, mentorship opportunities from other members, and to have your work showcased as our Featured Photographer of the Month. SFUPS meetings are open to all, not just our members. We welcome everyone to join us and learn, share, and grow.
