In this presentation, I’ll take you into my world of underwater filmmaking in BC, sharing my experiences, favourite critters to film, and the techniques I use to bring their stories to life. We’ll cover everything from filming tips and tricks to the editing process, exploring how we can go beyond simply capturing an animal on camera and create something that gives people a whole new appreciation for the incredible life beneath the surface.
My name is Kolin Hansen, the face behind Getting Salty. I’m an underwater filmmaker based on Vancouver Island, BC. I’m obsessed with the ocean and the incredible marine life that lives in our cold, dark waters. I love finding these often overlooked critters, capturing their personalities, and sharing a glimpse of a world most people never get to see.
I’m passionate about capturing and sharing the beauty of the animals that often go unnoticed, from tiny, colourful nudibranchs to some of the larger, more curious characters like Giant Pacific Octopus and the ever playful Sea Lions all of which call these waters home.
