Byron Conroy is an underwater photographer and photojournalist based in Reykjavik, Iceland. He has lived in Iceland for the last 8 years, operating multi-day dive tours to the most remote parts of Iceland and Greenland whilst also working as the Chief Operating Officer of Arctic Adventures, Iceland’s leading adventure tourism company.

In addition to working in Iceland, Byron has also spent the past five years as a photojournalist, working for the Scuba Diver magazine brand based in the UK and regularly writing articles on some of the world’s best dive destinations.

He has written multiple articles for the Dive Photo Guide website on locations, photography techniques, and different species.

Byron is also a JJ CCR trimix diver and loves all types of underwater photography – from ice diving in the frigid temperatures of the Arctic to cave diving in Mexico, wreck diving in Truk lagoon, and macro diving all over the Indo Pacific. If there is a cool photo to take, he will be there regardless of the type of dive. Over the last few years, however, he has progressed more into macro photography, and will be speaking on the various techniques he has been exploring in his presentation for SFUPS.
