Dave Heidemann is an ophthalmologist and avid underwater photographer. He created the Aquatic Eye YouTube channel that has about 100 instructional videos for beginner and intermediate level underwater photography. He is mainly interested in capturing images at the Blue Heron Bridge that demonstrate the amazing variety of life as well as the vast array of ocular adaptations that evolved to help aquatic animals survive and thrive.
He has published a book – The Aquatic Eye. He has published many images in peer reviewed ophthalmology journals and has over 50 images in a new comprehensive textbook – Wild and Exotic Animal Ophthalmology. His images have been exhibited in the Paleontological Research Institute in Ithaca, New York. He lives in Detroit, but the Blue Heron Bridge is his favorite and most visited dive site.
