I’m a PADI Course Director, retired Army officer, and founder of Seaira Dives, a woman and veteran owned scuba training and travel company now based on the Big Island of Hawaii. I created Seaira Dives to build an inclusive and welcoming space for divers of all backgrounds and experience levels, and now spend much of my time teaching scuba, mentoring dive professionals, and leading dive expeditions around the world.
Although diving became both my career and a way to connect others with the ocean, underwater photography has recently helped me reconnect with a more personal side of diving. I’m still very new to underwater photography, but I’ve completely fallen in love with the creativity, patience, and appreciation for marine life that photography brings to every dive. A recent macro photography workshop in Lembeh, Indonesia further fueled my passion for documenting the small and often overlooked creatures of the underwater world. My favorite subjects are octopuses and frogfish. The stranger and more expressive the critter, the happier I am underwater.
