Born and raised in South Florida, Erica has been captivated by the ocean and its vibrant ecosystems from a young age. A certified PADI Divemaster, she expresses her passion for the underwater world through photography and videography, capturing the intricate beauty of marine life. At home, she cares for two thriving saltwater aquariums that reflect her lifelong love for the sea.
Erica holds a double degree in Marine Affairs and Communication from the University of Rhode Island (2016) and a Master of Professional Science in Marine Conservation from the University of Miami (2018). Her diverse professional background includes environmental consulting with the Florida Department of Transportation, a scuba diving internship at the Georgia Aquarium, and working with various marine non-profits. In 2018, she served as an Expedition Leader for National Geographic Student Expeditions in Belize, guiding students through hands-on marine science and conservation experiences.
Today, Erica serves as the Environmental Education Director for Repair the Sea, where she leads coastal cleanup initiatives and educates communities on sustainable ocean stewardship. She also currently serves on the Environmental Advisory Board for the City of Boca Raton, where she helps shape local environmental policy. One of her proudest achievements while sitting on the board is the successful passage of Ordinance 5580, which bans polystyrene foam, confetti, and balloons at city events and on city property—an important step toward reducing plastic pollution and protecting local ecosystems.
