Jay began his early career following in the family business as a stained-glass artist, and art has always played a huge role in his life. In addition to the stained glass, he has worked in many different mediums to create both two and three-dimensional pieces of art. He got his first real camera in his late teens and photography quickly became his primary method of expressing his art. It was only natural that he began taking underwater photos as soon as he started diving.

Over the years, Jay has been asked to present to a number of photographic groups including The Photographic Society of America, The Dallas Camera Club and The Fort Worth Camera Club. He also recently presented a talk on using composition to enhance photography to the Dallas Underwater Photographic Society.

Jay met his lovely wife Rani when she signed up for a trip he was leading in Roatan, they got engaged while on a dive off Sipadan Island in Borneo and honeymooned in Turks and Caicos. Both Rani and Jay are outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to diving, their hobbies include cycling, fishing, skiing, and hiking. They love to travel and their involvement with scuba has allowed them to visit many unique places around the world.
