JUSTIN WALLACE

You are here:

Justin Wallace is an underwater photographer and videographer whose passion for the ocean has taken him beneath the surface in 29 countries across three oceans and to more than 60 countries worldwide. Originally from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Justin combines a lifelong connection to the sea with a deep appreciation for marine life, exploration, and visual storytelling.

Through his photography, Justin seeks to capture the beauty, behavior, and diversity of the underwater world, from vibrant coral reefs and macro subjects to large pelagic encounters. His travels have provided opportunities to document marine ecosystems throughout the Caribbean, Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic regions, creating a portfolio that reflects both the wonder and fragility of our oceans. Most recently, he returned from Morocco, where he explored and documented one of the more unique and lesser-known diving destinations in North Africa.

A significant part of Justin’s development as an underwater photographer was shaped at Florida’s Blue Heron Bridge, where he honed much of his macro photography skills and refined his approach to working in dynamic, shallow-water environments. These early experiences continue to influence his attention to detail and his appreciation for the smaller, often overlooked subjects of the underwater world.

An active member of the underwater imaging community, Justin serves as the current Vice President of the Houston Underwater Photographic Society. In this role, he supports the growth of the local diving and photography community while continuing to share his experiences, techniques, and underwater adventures with fellow photographers and enthusiasts. His work emphasizes natural history, conservation awareness, and the unique moments that occur when patience, preparation, and opportunity come together underwater.

Justin currently shoots with a Nikon D850 in a Nauticam housing, utilizing Inon strobes and Backscatter MF-1 lighting systems to create both still imagery and cinematic underwater video. His latest work, travel stories, and behind-the-scenes content can be found on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok under the handle @jwunderwater.
