ORI GALILI
The best way to describe me is an “Ocean Enthusiast”!
I am a marine biologist by profession, though also a dive instructor, underwater photographer, sailor, dive-boat captain, and recently – kiteboarder. All of these titles each come with a different level of experience and proficiency, but in essence – I am curious about everything involving the marine world.
My photography journey has evolved from my love of the ocean, and in addition to the joy of sharing the beauty of the sea with people who may not have had the opportunity to experience it firsthand – I am also captivated by the additional challenges that underwater photography adds to a dive. My first camera was an Olympus TG-2, and today I’m shooting a Sony rx100V in a Fantasea housing, two Sea & Sea YS-01 strobes, and a variety of wet lenses.
I am interested in all paths of underwater photography – macro and wide angle, bokeh and black background, textures and seascapes, blackwater, images taken on breath-hold (freediving) and also breath-hold modeling. This has led me to a diverse repertoire of images, though no signature style.
I am a dual citizen of the USA and Israel and have lived in Israel and South Florida in recent years. I look forward to diving and collaborating with many SFUPS members!
