Patrick E. Barton is a SCUBA instructor (PADI Staff Instructor, SSI, SDI), a U.S. Coast Guard 100 Ton Master Captain, and an accomplished photographer. Combining his training in Fine Arts with his passion for the ocean, Patrick is a proud member of the Ocean Artist Society. For 25 years, he served as a dedicated volunteer diver for the Omaha Zoo, which was recently voted the #1 zoo in the country. Through his company, Barton Visions LLC, he brokered and managed international field operations in Walvis Bay, Namibia, supporting rare jellyfish research. During his volunteer tenure, he also produced high-resolution photography alongside macro and microscopic videography for global conservation campaigns. His expedition photography extends to the Revillagigedo Islands—235 miles off the coast of Mexico—where he documented shark tagging and giant manta biopsy collections.
A dedicated Nikon shooter, Patrick’s camera journey has evolved from the D100 to his current D810. While his earlier portfolio was captured exclusively with Ikelite housings, he recently upgraded his rig with a Nauticam housing and ports acquired from Reef Photo. He continues to light his underwater scenes using his trusty Ikelite DS161 strobes.
An active innovator in the water sports community, Patrick is the founder of Caudal Sports LLC, having invented and patented an innovative snorkeling, swim, and scuba fin yet to hit the market. Out of the water, he is a seasoned digital strategy and UX professional. You can view his photography and connect with him at https://photos.bartonvisions.com/
