SHAWN TUREK

My love for photography can be summed up by the idea of capturing wild animals living in their natural environment. This started as and still is a love for taking photographs of wildlife above water but has morphed into underwater photography too.

As for me, I’m a local South Floridian, born and raised in Miami. I’ve lived all over the US and the world but recently, thanks to my wife, managed to find my way back to sunny south Florida. My interest in wildlife and photography started when I was 11 years old and we took a family trip to the Galapagos Islands. This trip really opened my eyes to the beauty of the world and all the animals who live here. Since then, I’ve traveled the world, specifically searching for places where I can photograph wildlife in their natural habitat. I try to travel internationally at least 1-3 times per year and have been lucky enough to travel to some incredible and remote locations spanning all 7 continents.

Below water, I recently upgraded my setup from a compact to a mirrorless camera, choosing the Olympus OMD EM-1 Mkii with a 12-50mm, 60mm macro and 8mm fisheye lenses all housed in Nauticam with a single Sea & Sea YS110a strobe and two Sola lights. Above water (for wildlife), I use a Canon 7D Mkii with a Canon 100-400mm Mkii L lens. To view more of my pictures and my travels, please visit my website: www.my2dworld.com.
