Join SFUPS for an exhilarating dive to photograph Bimini’s world-famous Great Hammerhead Sharks in the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas. On Sunday, March 30th, we’ll join Bimini Scuba Center for an incredible up-close encounter with these beautiful sharks. Located only 50 miles off the coast of South Florida, Bimini makes for a perfect day trip. This trip is back by popular demand and will likely sell out fast. If you want to dive with Great Hammerheads, make sure to sign up soon! Everyone is welcome to register for this trip – you do not have to be an SFUPS member, though priority may be given to SFUPS members and families.
DETAILS:
- Date: Sunday, March 30th
- Costs: The Hammerhead Dive is $395 per person (tax & card fees included), with the possibility of a refundable discount if we get enough participation.
- Transportation: Transportation costs are not included in the cost of the trip, and reservations must be booked independently by trip participants. The Balearia Ferry makes for a convenient way to get there and back, particularly if you are only planning on being in Bimini on the day of the dive. There are a number of airlines that may also have flights available out of Fort Lauderdale and might make more sense if you plan on a longer stay (remember to always consider DAN guidelines for flying and diving when booking). This trip takes place during Spring Break, so make sure to book transportation as soon as possible!
- Requirements: A valid Open Water Certification is required to dive, and DAN Accident Insurance is highly recommended. You will also need an up-to-date passport since this trip is located in the Bahamas.
- Cancelation Policy: This trip is subject to the cancellation policy of Bimini Scuba Center. If for any reason the dive is canceled, including bad weather, no cash refunds will be issued. Bimini Scuba will instead issue credits to reschedule the trip at a later date, with no time limit on rebooking. Participants may want to obtain DAN Travel Insurance when signing up for this trip.
- Add-on Possibilities: For those looking for more than one day of diving, contact the Bimini Scuba Center for dive and hotel add-on packages. Please also inform the Director at Large if you wish to do more diving. If there is enough interest, it may be possible to coordinate another charter depending on interest, timing, and availability.
- Contact Director at Large, Rick Vollaro, with any questions at director@sfups.org.
