2025 SFUPS BLACKWATER DIVE
Join SFUPS and blackwater expert Linda Ianniello to experience the fascinating world of blackwater diving. Learn how to identify and photograph the mesmerizing creatures found in the water column just off our shores as they migrate from the depths at night. If you’ve been wanting to try a blackwater dive, but are a little apprehensive, this is the perfect opportunity to do so with a group of divers you know.
To add to the fun, we will be holding a “day of” photo contest for trip participants. The winner of this contest will receive a copy of “Blackwater Creatures” by Linda Ianniello and Susan Mears.

Date and Time: Saturday, August 2, 2025 – 7:30 pm departure, 6:45 arrival at the marina – 105 Lake Shore Dr West Palm Beach, FL 33403
Operator: Pura Vida Divers, Riviera Beach
Price: $100 for charter (Your SFUPS discount is already applied) plus $20 gratuity and 7% tax. Tanks are available for rental, and prices vary according to tanks size and gas used (Aluminum 80 Air – $15/Aluminum 80 Nx – $20/Steel 100 Air – $20/Steel 100 Nx – $25). Please note that PuraVida only carries 100 CF steel tanks, which will give you more air, and are also roughly 4-6 pounds heavier than aluminum tanks.

Requirements: All Blackwater divers must hold a minimum of PADI Advanced Open Water or Night Diver certification, or equivalent. This should not be your first night dive. DAN Insurance is highly recommended.

- No tank rental: Charter $100 + tax $7.00 + tip $20 = $127.00
- Aluminum 80 Air: Charter $100 + tank $15 + tax $8.05 + tip $20 = $143.05
- Aluminum 80 NX: Charter $100 + tank $20 + tax $8.40 + tip $20 = $148.40
- Steel 100 Air: Charter $100 + tank $20 + tax $8.40 + tip $20 = $148.40
- Steel 100 NX: Charter $100 + tank $25 + tax $8.75 + tip $20 = $153.75
