CHRIS GUG

received attention globally for being a finalist in the Underwater category at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition put on by the Natural History Museum and the BBC in London. This is one of the most competitive and prestigious photo competition in the world with 43,000 entries from 90 countries.

spoke for Shark Savers about shark conservation at Broward College’s April Science Speaker Series

have photos featured in the new SS Copenhagen beach signs, one is just north of the Sea Watch Restaurant; the other is in front of Washingtonia Park in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Also one of the electric boxes with Copenhagen artwork used Jason’s anchor photo on one side. The box is located in front of Assumption Church, across from the Sea Watch Restaurant. Jason and Monica also have several photos featured in a brochure that promotes diving Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

was invited as a guest speaker at the Blue Wild show on the topic of Underwater Photography and filled the room with 53 guests; He was also Force-E’s speaker giving another “Introduction to Wide Angle Photography.”

ALAN DEWEY

was invited by the World of Scuba in Boca Raton to give a presentation titled “Introduction to Underwater Photography” on March 4, 2014.

won the Force-E Shark Photo Contest with her image titled “Snack Time”

will have his film “Celebrating Life” showcased at the 15th Annual San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition

participated in covering the “Underwater Wedding of Bill and Liz” in 30 feet of water in Fort Lauderdale – at the Bahia Mar EuroJax. It was picked up and my photos were used both online and print in “The London Times” on 8/12/14

won Runner Up/2nd Place at the Cairns Underwater Film Festival for his short film “My Sanctuary”

HANNAH MEDD

published an article about Sharks International conference in Durban, South Africa. The article appeared in Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s blog at Http://gillsclub.wordpress.com/

JONATHAN LAVAN

while in Belize, leading a trip for REEF, got a photo of the very rare Glover’s Reef Toadfish. The photo may well be the only picture of the creature in its natural habitat. Also, While in Monterey California doing research for REEF, got photos of a larval Sailfin Sculpin.

KIRK KILFOYLE, SAM HODGE, CHRIS GUG

Nova Southeastern University hosted their annual 2014 Shutter Shark student underwater photography contest. There were well over 100 entries judged by SFUPS members Chris Gug, Kirk Kilfoyle, and Sam Hodge for this year’s event. Student winners were announced on April 25 at the NSU Oceanographic Center of Excellence Awards ceremony.

won 2nd place at an International Photo Contest hosted by Florida International University.

ROBERT MYERS

teamed up with Ed Petuch, a professor of Geosciences at FAU to produce various publications on south FL mollusks.
