received attention globally for being a finalist in the Underwater category at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition put on by the Natural History Museum and the BBC in London. This is one of the most competitive and prestigious photo competition in the world with 43,000 entries from 90 countries.

Also one of the electric boxes with Copenhagen artwork used Jason’s anchor photo on one side. The box is located in front of Assumption Church, across from the Sea Watch Restaurant. Jason and Monica also have several photos featured in a brochure that promotes diving Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

JONATHAN LAVAN
while in Belize, leading a trip for REEF, got a photo of the very rare Glover’s Reef Toadfish. The photo may well be the only picture of the creature in its natural habitat. Also, While in Monterey California doing research for REEF, got photos of a larval Sailfin Sculpin.

Nova Southeastern University hosted their annual 2014 Shutter Shark student underwater photography contest. There were well over 100 entries judged by SFUPS members Chris Gug, Kirk Kilfoyle, and Sam Hodge for this year’s event. Student winners were announced on April 25 at the NSU Oceanographic Center of Excellence Awards ceremony.
