DEBBIE WALLACE

won 1st place in the DSLR/mirrorless Tropical Wide Angle category in the International Abissi Underwater Photo Venice 2017, from Venice, Italy

SHANA PHELAN, ANGELA SMITH

were chosen as Vice Chairs for the Southeast Florida Coral Reef Initiative (SEFCRI)

STEVE RATTS

had three of his images place in the 2017 Digital Shoot in Bonaire. He took 1st place in the Wide Angle Unrestricted Category, as well as the Night Sea Category, and Honorable Mention in the Traditional Wide Angle.

CHRIS GUG

was a winner in the 27th annual MML Photo Competition with an above-the-ground photo titled “Bioluminescent Shrooms”.

SUZAN MELDONIAN, DEBBIE WALLACE, KATY DANCA GALLI

were finalists and winners in the 2017 Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year competition. Suzan won Photo Journalists of the Year, HM in Portrait and Small Exotic Animal categories. Debbie won HM in Portrait category. Katy won HM in Emerging Photographer category.

JUDY TOWNSEND

SAROSH JACOB

had two of his films selected to be screened at the San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition. He also has a monthly article and video feature with Sport Diver Magazine.

was the Macro Category winner at the 2016 Bugfest By The Sea Underwater Photo Contest

WPBT PBS Channel 2 recently filmed a program on the Blue Heron Bridge as part of the “Changing Seas” series. Linda and Anne were one of the featured interviews in the film which first aired on June 29th, 8:30 pm. Watch for future showings. You can see the trailer HERE.

were both published in the August edition of Scuba Diving Magazine! The Magazine was doing an article on Diving in the South Florida and had solicited images from SFUPS members.

SAROSH JACOB

won Bronze in the video category at Our World Underwater Internationl Imaging Competition with the film “Sailfish” taken off the coast of Isla Mujeres.

SAROSH JACOB

won Best Underwater Short Film in the 2017 Poinciana Film Festival for his video “Cayman: Up Close”.

LARRY TOWNSEND

had his photo of a grouper in a beautiful reef scene selected for the cover of the Little Cayman Beach Resort’s 2017 Calendar. 

SUZAN MELDONIAN

was published on September 26, in National Geographic’s, Your Shot Daily Dozen. Her photograph featured a larval Tripodfish, Bathypterois granulator, which was taken during a blackwater dive.

had two photos published in the online article “Like Father, Not Like Spawn: The Beautiful and Bizarre Disguises of Baby Fish” in oceana.org.

were winners in the 2016 Blue Wild Photo and Video Contest. Bob Weybrecht won 1st Place in Macro, Chris Gug won 3rd Place Macro, Bobbi Dickinson won 3rd Place WA, Sarosh Jacob won 2nd Place Video.

had her article and photographs about Rainbow River published in the July 2017 Scuba Diving Magazine.

was chosen as Underwater Photographer of the Week for Underwater 360 – Asia. She was interviewed by the on-line magazine, and they published an outstanding article along with several of her images.

MIKE JOHNSON

short documentary from Black Water dives in Hawaii has been selected for screening at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in NYC.

SUZAN MELDONIAN

has been published in a book done by the Dept of Tourism in Indonesia, “Underwater Maumere”

LINDA IANNIELLO, DIANE RANDOLPH, KATY DANCA GALLI, BOB WEYBRECHT, DEBBIE WALLACE, JUDY TOWNSEND, WALT STEARNS, WAYNE MACWILLIAMS

were winners in the 2016 Florida Skin Divers Assoc UW Photo & Video Contest. The contest was organized by SFUPS member Heidi Thoricht. SFUPS member winners were: Linda Ianniello 1st Macro, Katy Danca Galli 1st W/A, Diane Randolph 1st Video, Bob Weybrecht 2nd Macro, Debbie Wallace 2nd W/A, Judy Townsend 3rd Macro, Walt Stearns 3rd W/A, Wayne MacWilliams HM Macro.

PATTI GROSS

will be inducted into the Women’s Diving Hall of fame in April 2016. Patti also contributed to a written piece featured in ChairLights, the newsletter of the Keys Jewish Center’s March 2015 publication, Page 35.

WAYNE MACWILLIAMS

entered into the 1st ever International Underwater photo contest of this format. The contest, Lembeh vs. Norway, challenged photographers at their respective locations. Following the 7 day event, Lembeh took 1st place, and Wayne took home 1st place for his team. The prize was a Siren Fleet live aboard at any of their locations.
